Leading tackler for the Oregon football team, Troy Dye, is now one of the 51 athletes that are on the watch list for the famous Butkus award. This annual award is presented to the best national linebacker.
This is not Dye’s first time to find his place on this important watch list. During the last season, he was nominated to Lott IMPACT, and the Bednarik watch lists. In 2018, and 2017, Troy Dye an All-Pac-12 honoree. Now, to win the title of all-time career leader of his team, he needs to add 121 tackles to the list of his current accomplishments.
The previous year, the prestigious award went into the hands of Devin White, LSU’s player. On November the 4th, we are going to find out who are the semi-finalists that are going to compete for the Butkus. Three weeks later, on November the 25th, we will know who the lucky finalists are. The winner of the award is going to be revealed to the public on December the 10th, or at some point prior to that date. Five Oregon players have made their way into preseason watch lists, including Dye.
